I believe this Roku player has major issues with the HDR technology and I am not so sure that even a firmware can fix it. Using Netflix i don't even get 4K playback, only HDR titles but it plays back in SDR. Using VUDU, there is no problem with Atmos but there is no HDR, only Dolby Vision ( VUDU does not support HDR10 playback yet). When I switch it to DD+ the audio is fine. Using the ROKU Ultra Amazon Video app I am able to get HDR playback and audio but it warbles in Atmos. Atmos tracks work fine from the disc player but not streams through the Roku.Įxact same experience as you.

I tried swapping cables and receiver inputs, but it's always the same result. Switching to DD+ on the receiver or switching to non-HDR mode on the Roku gives clear audio, but Atmos works fine from my Blu-ray player.

I did factory reset on both the TV and the Roku and am now able to get audio in 4k HDR mode, but the audio 'warbles' (garbled) when viewing a show in Atmos.

I had the same thing with a Samsung JS9500, firmware is 1470. And have the Ultra connected directly to the TV for HDR(Since the speaker bar is only HDMI 2.0 so it won't handle HDR without HDMI 2.0a) I am using the ARC to get audio to the speaker bar. I'm having no audio dropout issues with my Ultra and my Sony 850C/Sony speaker Bar. On the TV's audio menu, can you force-select Dolby on that HDMI input (or any/all HDMI inputs)? In other words, take it off auto and try specifically setting for Dolby or surround or whatever the option is and run the Roku through its HDR paces? I'm not saying it's the TV, but obviously there's some interaction between this Roku and this TV right now, barring reports of others who have completely different models chiming in. It's interesting that you both have the same TV, too. Not 100% sure but it may have only started when I upgraded to the latest firmware on 10/15 (7.2.2 build 7090) Never seen this issue with any other boxes including Roku Stick and Roku 3 Tried multiple cables, tv inputs, audio and video settings on the Roku but the only fix is switching the Roku to just 4k mode (turning off hdr) or rebooting the Roku. Loss of audio on my Premiere+ after switching inputs, then going back to the Roku. I'm seeing this same issue as original poster. My Xbox One S works perfectly on my TV this roku does not. TV: OLED65C6P, all inputs are set to UltraHD High Color.

If it's a hardware issue I'll wait for iterative version, if software I wait for a new software version. I will be buying local next time and watching the forum for fixes. There could be more issues but I got fed up trying to find a fix, so I'm returning my unit to where I purchased, Amazon.

But I'm also having a ton more issues with my Premiere Plus unit. I two have had audio issues when HDR is set.
